I’m currently trying to eat more protein, because I know I don’t get enough and I’d like to have at least a tiny muscle left as I age. You know what I’m talking about… you’ve seen the old ladies that are so scrawny they seem like a brisk wind would knock ‘em down? I don’t want to be one of those ladies, and while I’m not in any danger of blowing away, I figure I’d better start building some muscle right now. Before I get old.
Who knows… my logic is probably flawed, but the muscleheads at the gym all grunt about protein and how you gotta eat protein to build muscle. What I do know is that proteins are used in our bodies to build up, keep up, and replace the tissues in our bodies and that muscles, organs, and some hormones are made up mostly of protein. Proteins function in tons of other ways in our bodies (like carrying oxygen… hello? do you want to breathe) and basically, if I know I’m not eating enough, I’m not doing myself any favors.
So, I eat more. More meat, more chicken, and lots more fish. And Fage yogurt. Total yum. The question then is how much do I eat? And anyone that has ever adopted a new eating plan, whether it’s more protein or more veggies has asked this question: how much is a “serving”? No one wants to weigh or measure out every single thing they eat. Who has time for that? Plus, extra dirty dishes. Blah.
So, these Measure Up Bowls were created with just this dilemma in mind because they have cup measurements inside the bowl you eat from! The small bowl measures up to a cup (in 1/4 increments) and the large bowl measures up to 2 cups (in 1/2 cup increments). How friggin’ handy is this? Measure effortlessly and then eat right out of that same bowl. Ingenious.
