My husband was bragging to the boys the other day, When I was in college, I could eat an entire large Domino’s pizza all by myself.
As impressive and delicious as this might sound to the kids, I hope that when they get to that point, they are able to cook something a little more interesting (read: nutritious) than a pizza. We’re starting a cooking camp this summer, my way of saying You have to help make your own lunch. I’ll tell you what cookbook(s) we’ve chosen to use for this project later, because now I want to share this cookbook to help your college-aged kids learn to cook some basics or at least do a little better (nutritionally and economically) than a delivery pizza.
Cooking Outside the Pizza Box provides over 100 easy recipes that young adults (and old adults) will enjoy and be able to prepare alone. Without accidents. Because there’s a section on accidents entitled: Don’t Let This Happen to You. One of the great things about this book is that is starts at the beginning assuming no kitchen knowledge, with How to Follow a Recipe. Gotta love that.
Great gift for your graduate, so they realize all those meals so lovingly prepared for them their entire life took time and effort!
