Can you even guess what I spent on my latest wooden spoon purchase at my local fancy kitchen store? More than this entire set. In fact, I’m sitting here wondering if this is a misprint. Six bamboo tools for $10? Seriously, this is what you’d expect to pay at that really, really large chain-everything-store whose name rhymes with Ball-Cart. Except the tools from Ball-Cart are tiny sawdust shavings pressed into the shape of a spoon. Crap quality. These are made of rugged, renewable bamboo, richly grained and harder than maple. Soooooo nice. I want them.

What’s the purpose of the spoon with the hole in it? I’ve seen them before, but have no idea what you use them for!

Well, the spoon experts (that’s not me) swear by these spoons with a hole in the center for making sauces and such because the hole is supposed to allow your food to swirl around better and make stirring easier. I just use it as I would any wooden spoon… for stirring up trouble.
