We recently discovered Ecology Action, a local recycling center that accepts almost anything with a recycling symbol on it, and so we are recycling everything we can now. Even those odd plastics with the numbers that no one knows what to do with, colored glass, cardboard… they take it all.  We have reduced our garbage to just one kitchen bag each week.

Yea, us. Great for the environment, bad for our garage. Because all those bottles and cans must reside somewhere until we take it to be recycled. And since we have to drive it there, we usually wait until all the bins are spilling over onto the garage floor before one of us gives in and takes it. It’s really a battle of the wills.

This aluminum can crusher smashes most cans to about 1″ tall, so it will increase the number of cans we can fit into the bin. Less frequent trips to the recycling center = less gas. Win-win.
